Edited by: Sanni Morgana on 23/11/2005 17:45:54 Edited by: Sanni Morgana on 23/11/2005 17:44:19 my 2,5 years of SWG:
-bugs since release still ingame....acknowledged but nothing done about it. -Big Shot of the DEVS promising progress for the combat balance update for more then a year. They STARTED on this more then a year after they supposed to be working on it. In fact, they had to roll in a bunch of EQ2 DEVS to create the Combat balance. -prices ingame where ranging from many thousands to even millions of credits for items sold by players. yet, they have 'exciting quests' ingame which give 50-150 credits as a reward. -they introduced an alpha class ingame (jedi). great idea, as 90% of the player database went for that profession after that... -when they nerfed professions, players started to whine, they listened and gave them unfair advantages, which caused even more grief with the opposition which then got unfair advantages....resulting in massive unbalances in combat. -they saw and recognised exploiting in PVP combat, yet did nothing about it...starting massive flamewar and griefing between the jedi- and the Bounty Hunter players. -the game suffers from massive lag and server instability. -the storyline is focused right after Episode 3, yet to satisfy new players and to earn easy money , allmost all new content (if any) is focused on episode 1-3.
in short:
-lag -server instability -BUGS -no content except mindless grinding -buffs and uber armor which made you play Godmode -creating an allround self-relient grindprofession (jedi) which was 1.5x stronger then any profession ingame. -combat unbalance -no PVP (in fact , you would get punished PVPing as you got item decay and massive wounds after each loss) -CSR ppl who would do nothing about your complaints. You really had to have the luck to catch a CSR who just happened to be in a good mood. They only replied to complaints sending you e-mail ingame when you were offline. The answer was negative in approx 99% anyway. -DEVS promising anything, yet giving no ETA just to have customers renewing their accounts.
SOE primary Tactic: releasing some content every time the players get fed up with SOE. -only releasing some new content when a new MMORPG was released as they feared cancellations of accounts. -the promised Galactic Civil War was never implemented. -the promised Battlegrounds were never implemented -the promised Smuggler Revamp was never implemented -content balanced solely around the jedi profession as this was their main attraction. "Yes, you can create your own jedi" -allmost no Publishes -no interaction with players unless it was for punishing -allmost no fixes if fixes were announced in the patchlist; it often was discouvered that they were still not fixed ingame. -stealth nerfs they tried to implement some nerfs secretly as they knew the players would go on a rampage knowing that such changes were going Live. -Publishes on testserver were 'tested' for about 1 week at most...then it was put Live regardless of the massive bugreports from testers who warned. this often resulted in day-long downtimes and restarts and a game with again more bugs. -each fixed bug created more bugs. -bad management -SOE reacting to the situation WAY too late. Between complaint and reaction is some 1-1.5 year before SOE realizes the problem.
etc etc etc
and there's more but I just want to stop thinking about SWG/SOE and start enjoying EVE again.
and the 1 good thing about SWG:
it is Star Wars, and THAT'S why most people waited and renewed their accounts hoping to get a SW game. As a game with nice little elves and Orcs the game would already've been long gone.
